Two accidents happen 300 yards apart from each other in Morehead City
MOREHEAD CITY, Carteret County - A vehicle flipped on Arendell Street Tuesday in front of Carteret Health Care. Shortly after, a second accident happened about 300 yards away.
Morehead City Police, EMS, and Fire Department arrived to survey the scene of the first accident. Police started directing traffic shortly just after 11 a.m.
Morehead City Police captain Tim Guthrie said three people were injured but had non-life threatening injuries. The driver of a 2001 Chevy Surburban, Hubert Helper Jr., was being investigated for a DWI. No charges had been issued.
The second accident happened around 11:20 a.m. on the east bound lane at the intersection of 35th Street. Two drivers in two separate vehicles suffered non-life threatening injuries. A 2007 Toyota Avalon drive by Charles Kelly of Morehead City and a 1997 Chevy Truck was driven by Anthony Frost of Atlantic Beach. The Chevy truck rolled over in the accident.
Guthrie said the scenes of both accidents were cleared up about an hour later.
