Fire heavily damages apartment building in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A fire Tuesday afternoon in Greenville left an apartment building heavily damaged.

The fire happened at the 3600 building on Rose Road in Greenville. Greenville Fire & Rescue Public Information Officer Rebekah Thurston said none of the occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported. Heavy damage was sustained to the apartment and officials said the cause of the fire was ruled accidental, starting in the kitchen. The Red Cross was called in to assist two adults impacted by the fire.
