Fire destroys home in Jacksonville


JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - An early morning fire destroys a home in Jacksonville.

Onslow County Fire Marshal Brian Kelly says the fire was reported around 4 a.m on 261 Justice Road.

Kelly says it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, 9 Mile Volunteer Fire Department, Rhodestown Volunteer Fire Department, Verona Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire. Onslow County Emergency Medical Services was on standby in case any firefighters were hurt.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. No one was injured.

The home was outside of the Jacksonville city limits.

Kelly says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
