Ex-Navy corpsman found guilty in 2012 double homicide
BEAUFORT, Carteret County - Former Navy Corpsman Jhaden Davis was found guilty of the 2012 killing of a father and son in Carteret County Superior Court on Monday.
The jury deliberated for only a short time after closing arguments were made Monday morning. Davis, said District Attorney Scott Thomas, will be sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Davis was on trial for the June 2, 2012 killing of 50-year-old Duane Correll and his 20-year-old son, Albert at their home just outside of Beaufort.
Joseph Pirrotta, a former Navy corpsman who was Davis' roommate and took part in an armed robbery of the Correll's that accompanied the killings, testified against Davis in exchange for a lighter sentence.
