Evans Street in Greenville to close for railroad repairs

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A section of Evans Street, south of 14th Street, will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, September 25, due to railroad repairs.

Carolina Coastal Railroad crews, in conjunction with N.C. Department of Transportation crews, will be repairing the railroad crossing for three days.

"The repairs will provide a smoother ride for motorists," Pitt County Maintenance Engineer Jordan Davenport said. "We ask that travelers follow the detour signs and drive carefully."

The road closure will start at 7 a.m. on September 25 and last until 5 p.m. on September 27. Traffic will be detoured to East 14th Street, Charles Boulevard, U.S. 264 Alternate, Arlington Boulevard and back to Evans Street.
