Edgecombe Co. man faces charges in shooting that left one dead, two injured
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - An Edgecombe County man already in jail on other charges is facing murder charges in a shooting last week in Greenville that left one man dead and two others injured.
Greenville Police report warrants have been obtained against Kendric Jamail Knight, 27, of Conetoe. He is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection to a shooting on River Bluff Road on June 27. Knight is currently in custody at the Edgecombe County Detention Center on unrelated charges and will be served warrants for the additional charges there, GPD officials said. The shooting happened at around 11:30 p.m. on June 27. Greenville police were called to the 100 block of River Bluff Road for a shots fired call in the parking lot. Officers arrived and noticed multiple people had been shot. Rufus Gregory Stancil, 26, of Greenville was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people, who were not named, were transported to Vidant Medical Center with gunshot wounds and are still recovering from their injuries. This remains an open and active investigation. Additional arrests are possible, according to Greenville Police.
