Duplin high school student arrested for bringing gun, ammo to campus
KENANSVILLE, Duplin County - A James Kenan High School student was arrested Wednesday for bringing a gun and ammunition on campus, authorities said.
Duplin County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Susie Miller said Floyd Tolbert, 18, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, as well as being served warrants for misdemeanor larceny and providing fictitious information to a law enforcement officer. He was booked into the Duplin County Jail on a $4,500 bond.
DCSO was notified of the weapon on campus from a parent who called and left an anonymous tip for the school's principal. A 9mm rifle was found in Tolbert's trunk and ammunition was located in the center console of the vehicle.
Miller said Tolbert did not make any sort of threats toward teachers or students at any point.
