Deadly Sunday morning car crash under investigation

Pitt County - One person was killed Sunday morning after their vehicle veered off the road in Pitt County.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at 12:17 a.m. on Hanrahan Road.

Officials say 50-Year-Old Caleb Barnes was partially ejected from his car after his vehicle veered off the road and rolled over into a ditch. The accident only involved the one car.

Troopers say Barnes was from Grifton and wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
