Crews fight flames for hours, total loss remains

COLUMBIA, Tyrrell County - Several Tyrrell County fire departments responded to a structure fire that took hours to extinguish, according to the Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office.

The fire was first reported Monday April 10 at about 7 p.m., according to the Regional Emergency Communications center. An official with the sheriff's office reported the structure fire happened at 9905 Newlands Road in Tyrrell County.

Crews and personnel from Tyrrell, Creswell, Lake Phelps and Mid County Fire Departments responded. Fire officials from the N.C. Forest Service from Tyrrell and Washington counties also responded.

The Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident.
