Craven Community College students graduate
NEW BERN, Craven County - Craven County Community College's graduation went on as planned after inclement weather initially posed a threat to the event.
This would be the college's 50 years of commencement and the first time in that history that it has rained so much. The Graduates received degrees, diplomas and certificates as they participated in the event on the New Bern campus Saturday, May 13.
Diane Tyndall was the commencement speaker. Tyndall retired last year after 30 years of service to the college with the designation of professor emerita. She continues to serves students part-time as an adjunct instructor and academic advisor.
The commencement event was the culmination of the academic year and celebrated the accomplishments of the 585 graduating students in the class of 2017 from Craven Community College, Craven Early College and Early College EAST. It also included the adult high school programs. These graduates earned 857 certificates, diplomas and degrees. The youngest graduate is 16 years old and the most mature graduate is 86 years young.
