Constituents Town Hall aimed to alert N.C. senators
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A Constituents Town Hall meeting was held in Greenville on Wednesday for Senator Richard Burr and Senator Thom Tillis.
The meeting was held by residents who say it is about time for the senators to come out and hold a town hall meeting and hear from their constituents. Burr and Tillis were invited to the meeting but said they could not attend. A spokesperson from Tillis' office told NewsChannel 12 he will not be able to attend due to a Veterans' Affairs Committee Hearing and votes he has to attend.
Organizer Marianne Montgomery said not only did she herself find it necessary but she was also inspired to hold one in Greenville after she saw similar meetings held elsewhere. The group discussed healthcare concerns and things that directly impact their communities.
The meeting was held at Sheppard Memorial Library in Greenville.
