Christmas comes early for military spouses in Jacksonville this year
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - Christmas came early this year for nearly 300 military spouses in the local area today.
"Support Military Spouses" partnered with McDonald's to bring holiday gifts to families juggling the many challenges that military life brings.
"[My husband] just came back from a deployment and do we're really happy to have him home for the holidays," Priscilla Rivera said.
Many of the military spouses are going through Christmas without their loved one this time of year as many military members are still deployed. Events like this, where spouses and children can get a bag filled with gifts, is really making a difference for military families this year.
"Support Military Spouses" also hosted a care package event at Cherry Point this afternoon. The next scheduled event is tomorrow, December 8, at 9:30 a.m. in Goldsboro.
