CenturyLink phone service restored after outage in Carteret Co.


BEAUFORT, Carteret County - UPDATE: We received an update from Carteret Emergency Communications that telephone lines are now working again in Carteret County.

In reference to any previous e-mails or CodeRED notifications that you may have received. The phone company has advised that all issues have been resolved. All citizens in the county should have access and use of their landlines. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.


A CenturyLink outage in Carteret County is impacting telephone use Thursday afternoon, according to the Cartetet County Sheriff's Office.

Nick Wilson, Public Information Officer with the sheriff's office, said in an email they have confirmed through CenturyLink about the outage involving its landlines. He said technicians are working to resolve the issue and will let everyone know when service is restored.

Because phone lines are down, those who need 911 assistance may have trouble reaching it by phone. You are advised to use your cell phone to call 911 in case of an emergency.
