Caught with cocaine, local man heads to jail

WILLIAMSTON, Martin County - Martin County authorities arrested a man for alleged cocaine trafficking.

On Wednesday, officers with the Martin County Narcotics Unit conducted an operation in the area of Roanoke Landing Shopping Center in Williamston. As a result of the operation, an arrest was made and approximately 35 grams of powder cocaine and 15 grams of crack cocaine (street value of $2,000) was seized.

The suspect's name is Antwand Kareem Cherry. Authorities say he is from Windsor. He is charged with trafficking in cocaine. Cherry's bond was set at $50,000. His next court date was scheduled for March 20.
