Carteret County public schools will face two-hour delay, school optional for Cedar Island students
CARTERET COUNTY - The Carteret County Public School System will have a two-hour delay Wednesday, September 27.
This decision is based on the weather predictions from NOAA and in conjunction with the County Emergency Management Office. Predictions indicate there will be high winds throughout the county and high water in low lying spots.
When it comes to students who live on Cedar Island, school will be optional. Those Cedar Island students unable to attend school will not be penalized.
Bus 229 will be at the Doodler Store, Hwy, 12, Wednesday at 8:20 a.m. to pick up Cedar Island middle school students who can safely get to the store, and they will drop those students off at the store at 3:50 p.m.
Bus 219 will be at the Doodler Store, Hwy. 12, Wednesday at 8:05 a.m. to pick up Cedar Island high school students who can safely make it to the store, and they will drop those students off at the store at 4:15 p.m.
Bus 190 will not travel on Cedar Island and parents who can safely leave the island should take their elementary students to Atlantic Elementary.
