Carteret Co. 'Stuff the Bus' on Aug. 11-13
Carteret County will hold a "Stuff the Bus" event for schools on Aug. 11-13 at two locations in Morehead City.

The annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive will begin soon and community members are urged to donate items to be distributed to students with financial needs. Complete details can be found at www.carteretstuffthebus.com.
Volunteers will collect items August 11-13 at two Morehead City locations - at Staples and Walmart. The collection times will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
All items collected will be distributed free of charge to students with financial needs at five sites in mid-August.
The types of items being collected include for elementary level students include book bags, pencils, markers, crayons, large rule loose leaf paper, colored pencils, notebook, scissors, glue sticks, pencil bags or pencil boxes. Items being collected for middle and high school level students include book bags, college ruled loose leaf paper, notebooks, pencils, markers, colored pencils, note cards, pens, glue sticks and protractors.
This year's Stuff the Bus campaign is being sponsored by the Carteret County Public School System, Parkview Baptist Church, Carteret County Association of REALTORS, The Holland Shepard Group Realty, Nationwide-Mac Willis, Coastal Press & Graphics, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina.
The main distribution will take place Wednesday, August 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church, 4738 Arendell Street, Morehead City.
Four other distributions will take place - all on Sunday, August 20 from 4-6 p.m. Those distributions will take place at Beaufort Elementary School, Broad Creek Middle School, Newport Middle School and Down East Middle School/Smyrna Elementary School.
At the August 16 distribution, students attending will be offered free haircuts by area stylists. Information will also be available from the Carteret County Health Department and from the school system's Child Nutrition Department.
