Car crashes into New Bern building

NEW BERN, Craven County - A car has crashed into the side of a building in New Bern.

The car crashed into a local cleaners near Neuse Blvd. and Simmons St at 9:39 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14.

Lieutenant Williams from the New Bern Police Department said that the car was making a right turn from Simmons Street onto Neuse Blvd.

The driver, a 69-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle, stepped on the accelerator and slammed into $3.49 A Cleaner.

No one in the car or in the store was hurt, Lieutenant Williams said. The driver was treated on scene and then released.

The driver's 2014 Jeep Sahara is totaled and officials said it looks like there is $20,000 damage to the building, Lieutenant Williams said.
