WINTERVILLE, Pitt County - Traffic lights were down on the ground at a major intersection in Winterville after an early-morning crash.

The crash was reported Wednesday at about 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Davenport Farm Road, according to a Winterville Police Officer on the scene. At about 6:30 a.m. officials said they were waiting for employees with the department of transportation to arrive to repair the traffic lights. An officer confirmed the crash involved one vehicle. Investigators continued to look into how the crash happened. There were no injuries reported. As of 9 a.m. Authorities were asking morning commuters to be patient and to keep an eye out for lane closures. North and southbound lanes on Highway 11 were opened by subject to closure per DOT repair work. The driver of the truck wasn't familiar with the road during the time of the wreck and drove into a ditch along the highway, knocking down traffic lights.
