Campout event returns to Tryon Palace this weekend

NEW BERN, Craven County - One of Tryon Palace's most popular events returns this weekend.

Lanterns on the Lawn - an overnight campout event geared toward families - kicks of on Saturday and runs until Sunday. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Tryon Palace Foundation.

Eventgoers can reserve a 15-square foot spot on the palace lawn for a camping space and can begin pitching tents at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The event includes a cookout, lawn games, a sunrise yoga session along the Trent River and more.

"This event is quickly becoming a family favorite for not only New Bern, but also for families from all over North Carolina," said Erin Langley, Tryon Palace Development Manager. "This will be our third 'Lanterns on the Lawn' and each time it gets better and better. Not everyone can say that they have spent the night 'at the Palace'."
