BRIDGETON, Craven County - Craven County Partners in Education announced a $25,000 investment from Duke Energy Foundation to be used for a science, technology and math program at Bridgeton Elementary.

The funds will help launch the Pitsco Education Program, Beginning Science is Elementary, STEM Lab at Bridgeton Elementary. BSH Home Appliance provided a matching grant to fully fund the program.

It is the third grant Craven PIE has received for STEM Labs through the Duke Energy Foundation. STEM labs at James W. Smith Elementary and Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary were funded in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

"By giving students the opportunity to connect what they're learning through STEM labs to the real world, we hope to help foster a lifelong passion for learning," said Millie Chalk, district manager of Government and Community Relations at Duke Energy. "We're proud to be a lead supporter of the Beginning Science is Elementary project to make this hands-on educational experience available to students at Bridgeton Elementary."
