Beau-Fitt aims to improve health, fitness of area citizens
WASHINGTON, Beaufort County —
Beaufort County Community College was talking healthy lifestyles and more Tuesday morning.
BCCC held its second annual Beau-Fitt, a health fair with an initiative that aims to help educate those in the community about healthy lifestyles. It's part of Beau-Fitt Initiative the community college started.
The event was free and offered a variety of different things such as education about diabetes prevention, picking healthy snack options and even a free health screening from Vidant Beaufort County. People who attended visited a number of vendors who were offering things such as food, information and even some gifts.
"Beau-Fitt started as a grant that the college received to put on health and wellness sessions for the college, the staff, the students and the community," said Julie Crippen, Grant Writer for BCCC. "About 3 years ago, we started putting on these health and wellness sessions, and it kind of blossomed from there."
