Bear Grass Charter school remembers teen killed
BEAR GRASS, Martin County - Two men arrested in the murders of a Martin County woman and her daughter made brief court appearances Monday morning.
Autopsy reports released Monday show Dawnn Ward died from a stab wound and Taylor Carroll, 14, from multiple stab wounds. Meanwhile the teen's school mates at Bear Grass Charter School are honoring her life.
The school held a vigil Monday morning before starting the day. Taylor was an 8th grader at the school and was on the middle school cheerleading team. Students and staff members say she was outgoing, always had a smile on her face and always dressed to impress.
Grief counselors and a crisis management team were on site to help students and staff. The classmates she left behind say they can't believe she is gone.
Ward's estranged husband Jeffery Ward is charged with two counts of murder. His brother, Jerrett Ward, charged with accessory after the fact.
