Woman arrested on marijuana, cocaine charges after speeding
COLUMBIA, Tyrrell County —
A woman was arrested on multiple marijuana and cocaine related drug charges after she was pulled over for speeding in Tyrrell County.
Tanisha Brickhouse, 28, of Elizabeth City was stopped by a Tyrrell County deputy on Sunday, April 8, for going 90 mph in a 50 mph zone on U.S. 64 East of Columbia.
During the traffic stop, the deputy smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a search. The deputy then discovered 11.3 grams of marijuana, 5.0 grams of powder cocaine and 2.1 grams of crack cocaine. The powder cocaine was in 16 individual baggies and the crack cocaine was in 7 individual baggies, officials said.
Brickhouse was charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintain a vehicle for the sale of controlled substance, speeding 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed in the Dare County Detention Center on a $32,000 secured bond.
