Washington man gets nearly six years in prison for firearm charge
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A Washington man was sentenced to nearly six years in prison earlier this week for illegally possessing a firearm.
Freddie Anthony, 25, was given 70 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, Unites States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina John Stuart Bruce announced.
The charges were tied to a June 28, 2016 incident in which Greenville Police officers, as part of the Gun Violence Reduction Unit, observed Anthony enter the Pitt Street Mini-Mart with bullets in his pockets. Officers also recovered a sweatshirt that Anthony had used to wrap a .38 caliber firearm in - one that was loaded.
