Traffic stop leads to chase, arrest on drug, other charges
BAYBORO, Pamlico County —
The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a high-speed chase led to the arrest of a man on multiple drug charges.
Antonio Dion Stilley of 918 Midyette St. in Oriental, was charged with three counts of selling a scheduled one substance, three counts of delivering a scheduled one substance, three counts of possession of paraphernalia, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, flee and elude and driving while a license is revoked. He’s in jail under a $1 million bond.
Deputies said they attempted to pull over Stilley on N.C. Hwy. 55 in Reelsboro but he didn’t stop for the lights and sirens. Stilley swerved at one of the patrol cars several times before hitting it on the passenger side while traveling at least 70 mph. After hitting the car, Stilley hit a second vehicle before losing control and crashing into a ditch.
Officials said over the past several weeks, investigators have made several controlled purchases of heroin from Stilley utilizing an undercover officer.
