Pitt County man facing murder charges following early-morning stabbing
GREENVILLE, Pitt County —
A Pitt County man has been arrested and charged after an early-morning stabbing led to the death of another man.
Alvin Jerome Tyson Jr. of Greenville has been arrested and charged by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office with murder.
In a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, officials with the PCSO said they were called to 1750 Katheryne Ln. in Greenville just after 5 a.m. They found Melvin Tyson, 48, dead of a stabbing wound in his lower abdomen. The two men were apparently friends who got into an argument after drinking. Officials said in the press conference there was a struggle, which led to the stabbing. A neighbor made the 911 call.
Tyson has had several drug-related charges in the past, officials said.
An investigation into the stabbing continues.
