New Bern area heroin trafficker arrested

Travis Marcus "SMOKE" Benton, 29, was arrested after officers discovered trafficking amounts of heroin and cocaine in his residence.

A known New Bern area heroin trafficker was arrested on Monday as a result of an ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics sales across Craven County.

Travis Marcus Benton, also known as "Smoke," was charged with felony trafficking heroin, felony possession with intent manufacture/sell/deliver heroin, felony possession with intent/manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, two felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, felony possession of firearm by felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Benton was arrested after officers from the Coastal Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) executed a search warrant at 11 Casey Drive in New Bern. During the search, trafficking amounts of heroin and cocaine, along with a firearm, were seized.
