A local man turned himself in to troopers on Monday after a hit-and-run left one woman hospitalized over the weekend.

Officials said that at approximately 8:42 p.m. on Sunday, 53-year-old Vincent E. Hill, of Havelock, was traveling northeast on SR 1703 (Belangia Road) when he struck a woman walking northeast on the same road.

Hill left the scene, but officials said he turned himself in to Trooper R.L. Hopper with NC State Highway Patrol the next day.

Susan Georgotas, 53, also of Havelock, was flown by East Care to Vidant Medical Center for her injuries. Officials said she is still at the hospital.

Hill has been charged with felony hit and run and had his first court appearance on June 15. His next appearance is scheduled for August 3, 2018.
