Inmates charged after assaulting other inmates with homemade knives
GREENE COUNTY, N.C. —
Two inmates from Maury Correctional were charged with assault after attacking two other inmates with homemade knives.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, officials with the Greene County Sheriff's Office said. The two inmates involved in the assault, 28-year-old Charles Edward Leach Jr. and 26-year-old Thaddeus Jones, were charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of possession of a weapon by a prisoner.
The warrants will be served on June 15, officials said.
The two inmates that were assaulted were transported to Vidant Hospital for treatment. Officials have not released details on their condition.
