Grifton man arrested on multiple drug, weapon charges
GRIFTON, Lenoir County —
A Grifton man is facing is facing multiple charges after being arrested on Thursday following a multiple unit investigation.
Joel Dajuan Swindell, 24, of 479 Creekshore Dr. in Grifton has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and simple possession of marijuana by Grifton Police. Kinston Police have charged him with discharging a firearm in city limits, carrying a concealed weapon and injury to real property. The charges stem from a shooting that happened on April 1 at Simon Bright Apartments in Kinston.
A search warrant was issued by Grifton Police, Kinston Police and the US Marshals Service. Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a stolen firearm were found.
Swindell was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $577,500 secured bond.
