Pig cookers do battle first as Pigskin Pig-Out begins
GREENVILLE, Pitt County —
The best pig cookers in Eastern North Carolina and beyond are camped around Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, rustling up some good BBQ for this weekend's 35th annual Pigskin Pigout.
The parade of pigs capped a Friday that included East Carolina University golf, tennis, volleyball and an equipment sale. Live music finished off the festivities for the first day.
"The money goes for paying for scholarships for our student athletes," said Shelly Binegar, Senior Associate Athletic Director. "So it's another way for us to give back to the educational foundation. And that is through the equipment sale that you see going on behind me and it is also through the barbecue sale that we have."
Saturday is a packed day of events. Click here to see the full schedule of events.
