ECU police investigating death of homeless woman
GREENVILLE, Pitt County —
East Carolina University Police are investigating after the body of a homeless woman was found inside a vacant home owned by the university.
Officials said in a press release the body was found around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. ECU facilities employees discovered the body of a deceased woman inside a home at 202 E. 9th St. The home is located at the planned site for ECU’s Life Sciences and Biotechnology Building.
The State Bureau of Investigations has also been called in to assist in the investigation. Officials said no foul play is suspected but the investigation is ongoing. The woman was not affiliated with the university. The name of the woman is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
