ECU officials announce investigation, review of school swimming program complete
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - East Carolina University officials have concluded no team disciplinary action will be taken or charges filed after the completion of its investigation into the school's swimming and diving program.
In a press release from ECU, the East Carolina University Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and the ECU Police Department concluded its respective investigations of the program following a reported incident on Aug. 25 and "determined there will be no team disciplinary action taken or charges filed."
The press release also states "While the teams have been allowed to resume practice and team activities, the OSRR could make recommendations based on its findings for individual student-athletes who may be found in violation of the school's student code of conduct."
The ECU Student Code of Conduct is administered by the OSSR. The Department of Athletics, which halted all of the teams' activities, was also informed of the results, the press release states.
The investigation began Aug. 31. At the time, Tom McClellan, Assistant Athletic Director at ECU, said "There is an ongoing investigation into an alleged incident involving ECU's swimming program. All team activities are on hold until the university's inquiry has been completed."
No further information about the investigation or the reason behind it was released by the school.
