UNC coach takes jab at President Trump after Miami win
NEW YORK - Did you hear what Ole Roy had to say at the ACC Tournament?
Following his team's win over Miami in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Thursday, UNC men's basketball coach Roy Williams was asked about playing the tournament in New York City as opposed to another location.
"It used to be much more so (important) than I think it is now. Now everybody's has got social media, and we don't need 'The New York Times' to find out what in the dickens is going on in the country," Williams said. "You know, our president tweets out more bull***t than anybody I've ever seen. We've got social media."
Williams' profanity was surprising since he typically says things like "dadgum" and other folksy terms. He also didn't have a problem with comments by Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, who said there's "no value" to playing the tournament in places like Greensboro.
"This is America," Williams said. "Everybody's got the right to their opinion. I don't agree with that. I love moving the tournament around."
Twitter, as it usually does, had a field day with the comments.
