Roanoke Island aquarium helping celebrate World Oceans Day
MANTEO, Dare County - Thursday is World Oceans Day and the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island is doing its part in the celebration.

On June 8, join the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island in celebrating World Oceans Day. This worldwide event is a fun opportunity to learn about the oceans, the important roles they play in all our lives, and how to best protect and conserve them. NCARI will join the party with a day of fun and learning alongside the aquarium's aquatic exhibits and the beautiful natural surroundings of the Croatan Sound. Games, activities and crafts will highlight important ocean issues like salinity and single-use plastics. Partner organization the North Carolina Coastal Federation will be on hand to help celebrate the oceans. The day will also feature two live performances of songs about oceans and sea creatures by the band Nature Out Loud! World Oceans Day will take place at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island on Thursday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All activities are included with regular aquarium admission. The N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is dedicated to the mission of "Inspiring appreciation and conservation of North Carolina's aquatic environments."
