Pursuit, foot chase ends with arrest of Goldsboro man
GOLDSBORO, Wayne County - A Goldsboro man was arrested after he refused to stop during a checkpoint on the Fourth of July.
David Wayne Webb, 53, of 108 N. Slocumb St. in Goldsboro, was charged with driving while impaired, felony fleeing to elude arrest, no operator's license, expired registration plate, possession of an open container, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to to stop a steady red light, careless and reckless, exceeding the posted speed limit and resist/delay and obstruct officers. He was given a $9,000 bond and had a court appearance Wednesday.
In a press release from the Goldsboro Police Department, officials conducted a check point in support of "Operation Firecracker," part of the state's Booze It and Lose It Campaign. Officials said Webb refused to stop and led law enforcement on a brief vehicle chase.
The chase ended at Webb's residence, where he continued to elude officers on foot into his home. He was located and arrested shortly after.
