Police investigate shots fired into occupied home near ECU's campus

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Greenville police said several shots were fired into a home on Student and 4th Streets Monday night.

They said the attack happened just a block from the East Carolina University campus. Officers found four bullet holes in the home and said a woman inside the residence was not injured. "This is something we take very seriously. What I can suggest to people is to be aware of who they are keeping company with, be aware of the activities they're involved in," Greenville Police Spokesperson Kristen Hunter said. "Certain activities can lead to more violent behavior." Investigators said they believe the incident was targeted but wouldn't say much more.
