SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Nominations are now being taken for Operation Homefront's 2018 Military Child of the Year.

There are seven overall awards. Six represent each branch of the armed forces, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard. The seventh is the overall Military Child of the Year Award, presented by Booz Allen Hamilton. That award goes to the military child who has designed "a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge."

Lejeune High School senior Jackson Beatty received the Operation Homefront 2017 Marine Corps Military Child of the Year. He was the third straight Lejeune student to win the award. Jeffrey Burds, then a senior at Lejeune High School, won the Navy award as a 2016 Military Child of the Year. Christopher-Raul Rodriguez won the Marine Corps award in 2015.

Students between the ages of 13-18 are eligible to receive one of the seven awards, including a $10,000 cash award to the Military Child of the Year. Nominations are accepted through Dec. 4.
