Moen warehouse expected to create jobs, revenue in Craven County
Craven County - Construction continues on a new Moen warehouse in the Craven County Industrial Park off Hwy. 70. The new facility, which is not far from Moen's assembly plant in New Bern, is expected to have at least 75 jobs in place when it opens next year.
The warehouse replaces a components warehouse in Kinston. This does not impact the distribution center in Kinston. Moen officials said some of the jobs in Kinston will be moved to the Craven County site. It's an $11.5 million dollar project.
Craven County Economic Development Director Timothy Downs said the project will have a tremendous economic impact on the county.
"It's a boost to the economy. There's hundreds of construction jobs that are here now, and some local construction companies got the work," Downs said. "There's also the multiplier effect. You have more jobs here, which means more people buying products here, which means more retailers are looking to expand here."
Downs said the county will reap $60,000 a year in new tax revenue from the project.
Construction is expected to be complete in April 2016.
