Man shot in Goldsboro last month arrested for armed robbery

GOLDSBORO, Wayne County - Three men were arrested Thursday in Goldsboro in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Fremont, including one man who had just recently been seriously injured during a shooting in Goldsboro.

Rakim Johnson, 22, Rasheed Swinson, 21, and 20-year-old Tyshawn "Tybooty" Gardner were arrested following a short chase with police in Goldsboro Thursday afternoon.

Gardner was shot on June 3 in a separate incident, and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with serious injuries.

Gardner was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center on a $250,000 secured bond on charges of felony common law robbery; two counts of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; two counts of felony larceny of a firearm and assault by pointing a gun.

Johnson, who police say was the driver of the vehicle, was charged with felony flee to elude; felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance; felony possession of a stolen vehicle; possession of drug paraphernalia; no operator's license and resist, delay and obstruct. He was booked into the WCDC on a $25,000 secured bond.

Swinson was charged with resist, delay and obstruct and was booked into the WCDC on a $7,500 secured bond.
