NEW BERN, Craven County - After experiencing heavy rains early Wednesday morning, we can expect the same thing Thursday.

Temperatures surged to near 60 degrees helping fuel the storms Wednesday morning. The area of low pressure exited off the Outer Banks and drier air made for a ice Wednesday afternoon.

We'll repeat this again for Thursday morning's commute as a cold front sweeps through the area. Clouds fill back in overnight Wednesday with storms arriving in Eastern North Carolina just in time for our morning commute on Thursday.

This time, the potential for stronger storms exist that could have brief heavy downpours, damaging winds and possibly small hail. The front sweeps off the coast by Thursday afternoon, drying us out and allowing a short sharp cold shot for Friday.

Stay with NewsChannel 12 as we continue to track any danger and alert you to the potential for severe weather Thursday morning.
