Hornets pick up Dwight Howard in trade with Hawks
CHARLOTTE - After one season in Atlanta, Dwight Howard has a new home ... in Charlotte.
ESPN's Marc J. Spears reports the Atlanta Hawks will trade Dwight Howard and the No. 31 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft for Mike Plumlee, Marco Bellineli and the No. 41 pick in Thursday' draft. Howard just finished the first of a three-year deal with the Hawks worth $70.5 million.
Howard averaged 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds in 74 regular-season games this past season. His scoring average was his lowers output since his rookie season, when he averaged 12.0 points a game.
The Hornets will be the fourth team Howard has played in 12 years in the NBA. He began his career in Orlando and was with the Los Angeles Lakers for a season before spending three seasons in Houston prior to the move to Atlanta, his hometown.
