Goldsboro man facing drug, weapon charges

GOLDSBORO, Wayne County - A Goldsboro man was arrested and is facing drug and weapon charges.

Michael Hackney of 912 Prince Ave. in Goldsboro, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon, maintain a vehicle and carrying a concealed firearm. He was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. The Goldsboro/Wayne County REACT team was conducting a driver's license checkpoint along Stony Creek Parkway. A vehicle owned and operated by Hackney came through the checkpoint. While speaking with Hackney, deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search revealed marijuana, materials used for the sale or distribution of controlled substances, and a concealed handgun. It was also determined Hackney was a convicted felon
