NEW BERN, Craven County - It's July, but it doesn't feel like it Sunday.

We had an unseasonably strong cold front move through Saturday. Highs Sunday will only get up to the lower to middle 80s across eastern North Carolina. The normal high temperature Sunday for New Bern is 89 degrees. We will be a few degrees below that. But this is not as cold as it was back in 1965 when the high only reached 77 degrees in New Bern. Lows tonight will get down to the upper 50s to middle 60s, (maybe lower 70s for some areas), across eastern North Carolina.

The normal low temperature for New Bern is 72 degrees. The record low was 65 set back in 1966. We have the potential to break a new record low for New Bern tonight. Pretty COOL right? The Climate Prediction Center predicts eastern North Carolina having a chance to see more below average temperatures from Aug. 4-8. Moral of the story is to take full advantage of these cooler temperatures while you can as we head into August.
