Cold morning temperatures affect how kids are picked up by school buses

TRENTON - Administrators at Pamlico and Jones County schools say bus drivers will wait for kids who stay inside their homes to stay warm on freezing mornings. Jones Senior principal Michael White said "we just let our kids stay inside the house if they are waiting for a bus at the bus stop. We just know school buses will be rolling in a little later that day."

Lisa Jackson is the superintendent of Pamlico County Schools. She said "when it's cold outside we just ask parents to bundle up their kids, stay indoors until the bus gets there, and we will give them time to get to the bus, we just want them to stay safe."

If there are any school closings, you can find them on the top bar of our website.

they say they would rather have the kids getting to school at little later, in order to ensure they aren't adversely affected by freezing temperatures.
