Two men expected in court Monday in connection to double homicide


MARTIN COUNTY - Two men in Martin County are expected in court Monday.

The two men were arrested for the double homicide of Dawn Ward and her daughter, Taylor Caroll.

Jeffrey Ward is charged with two counts of murder. Jerrett Ward is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder.

Jeffrey Ward is the estranged husband of victim Dawn Ward. Jerrett Ward is Jeffrey's brother.

Jeffrey Ward is being held without bond. Jerrett Ward is currently held under a $1 million dollar bond.


The Martin County Sheriff's office confirms that two people have been arrested in connection with the double homicide of Dawnn Ward and Taylor Caroll.

Jeffrey Todd Ward of 2923 McCaskey Rd., Williamston was arrested and charged on two counts of Murder with no bond.

Jerrett Cole Ward 2923 McCaskey Rd., Williamston was arrested and charged on two counts of Accessory After the Fact to Murder with a $1 million bond.

Both are set to appear in court on December 5, 2016. Officials say even though arrests have been made, the investigation is still active.

An informal community gathering to celebrate the lives of the mother and daughter found dead in Martin County was held Saturday afternoon.

Dawnn Ward and Taylor Carroll were recognized in a gathering Saturday at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church at 1248 Tyner Rd. in Williamston at 3 p.m.

Ward and Carroll went missing Sunday and were reported missing by the Martin County Sheriff's Office on Monday. The two were found dead in a well in Martin County on Thursday.
